An interior neon sign does a different job from a storefront sign. The sign above your door exists to be read from the street by someone who has not decided to come in yet. The sign on the wall behind your bar exists for the people already inside, and increasingly for the photograph they take of it. That difference should change what you buy, and usually it changes the size, the wording and the position rather than the budget.

Interior sign or channel letter

This is the single most common mix-up we see. Everything in this collection is flexible LED neon on an acrylic backing, hung indoors. A storefront sign is a channel letter: an individually fabricated aluminium letter with an acrylic face and its own lighting, mounted on the facade, drawn to whatever your landlord tenant criteria specify, and in most municipalities requiring a permit before it goes up. Running hours are the number that matters commercially

A home sign is switched on for an evening. A venue sign is on from open to close, every day. The tube is rated at 50,000 hours, which at twelve hours a day works out to a little over eleven years before the rating is reached. It runs on 12V and stays cool enough to sit within reach of customers, which is the other reason it suits a room full of people rather than an empty wall.

Window displays do not need the outdoor build

People routinely over-specify here. A sign hanging inside the glass, facing out at the street, is an indoor sign: it never sees rain. The IP67 outdoor build exists for signs that are genuinely exposed, on a patio, under an awning, on an exterior wall. It has to be specified at the quote stage rather than added afterwards, because the sealing is built into the sign rather than applied to it.
